Boarding
We welcome you and your pet to our boarding facility and we thank you for your trust in allowing us to care for your pet. Please take the time to read our boarding policies before boarding your pet. We hope it will answer some of your questions, if you have further questions, suggestions, or any problems please feel free to discuss them with our staff.

Boarding Hours for Drop off and Pick Up:

.Fee Schedule:
A $10.00 deposit (per pet) is required to hold your boarding reservation; this deposit will be applied to your account at checkout. The deposit is refundable up to 7 days prior to boarding if you need to cancel your reservation.![]()

.Boarding Requirements:
For your pet’s protection, Brookdale Animal Hospital, P.A. retains the right to refuse boarding to any fractious animals or those that may be ill or infected with contagious diseases. We require that all boarding animals be current on the following vaccinations and fecal examination:
Dogs: Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Parainfluenza, and *Bordetella. (Corona Virus Vaccination is recommended but not required. A negative fecal examination in the last 6 months is also required. *We recommend having the Bordetella vaccination performed at least 2 weeks prior to boarding.
Cats: Rabies, Feline Panleukopenia, Rhinotracheitis, and Calici.(Feline Leukemia vaccinations is recommended but not required. A negative fecal examination in the last 6 months is also required.
All pet’s are required to have proof of current vaccination status and fecal examination if they were preformed elsewhere prior to the admission into the boarding facility. If your pet is due for any of the required vaccinations, fecal exam or other medical care our veterinarians will be happy to perform these services prior to or during their stay in boarding. These additional charges are the responsibility of the client and will be reflected on your bill. An estimate for services can be requested at any time. *Please note: The Distemper combination and Rabies vaccinations also require a physical examination.

Facilities:
The boarding facility is housed within the Brookdale Animal Hospital, P.A building. The kennels are located in a heated and air-conditioned rooms. There are epoxy coated floor runs for large dogs and stainless steel kennels for smaller animals. Cats are boarded in a separate room away from the dogs. Our building is monitored 24-hours a day for fire and burglary.

Food and Personal Items:
We feed our boarding animals Science Diet Adult food. We recommend if your pet has a special diet or history of a sensitive stomach that you bring enough food for their entire stay in a labeled plastic bag or container. You may bring toys, treats, blankets, or rugs, with the understanding that these may be lost, soiled or damaged by your pet. Please do not bring bones, rawhides, or anything small enough to be swallowed. Please put your pet’s name on their items with a sharpie marker for ideal identification.

Care:
Dogs are taken outside twice a day for 10 minutes for exercise and elimination in an enclosed fenced yard. Pet owners can elect to have their dogs walked an additional 1-2 times per day for an additional charge. Dogs that stay five days or longer are given a bath at no additional charge the day before they check out of boarding, with the exception of dogs that show aggression or that are uncooperative. Cats are tended to twice per day (food and water, kennel cleaning, attention). You may also elect to have extended play and attention at an additional charge.

Medical Matters:
Any animal with external parasites (fleas, ticks, mites, lice) is required to be treated prior to the admittance into the boarding area. The charge for these services will appear on your bill at the time your pet is discharged from the boarding facility. *We recommend that all animals that board use a monthly flea and tick preventative (ie. Frontline Plus).
Please let us know if your pet has any major health problems so that we can make note on your record (ie. Heart, kidney, liver disease, epilepsy). We also ask all owners to leave an emergency number that will allow us to reach you or someone in town to contact should any emergency or treatment be necessary.
Should your pet develop and/or display any health problems, we will treat the problem as deemed necessary by one of our veterinarians. You will be responsible for the cost of any tests or treatments. If your pet is a patient elsewhere, we will notify them of any treatment.
